Like many governments worldwide, especially in Africa, prioritizing infrastructure development as a driver for economic growth has led to increased land acquisition through compulsory and involuntary resettlement, resulting in the displacement of people and communities. Involuntary resettlement may involve the physical displacement of people or the disruption of their livelihoods. Poor project implementation undermines the social and economic benefits expected from such initiatives and can worsen income inequality while damaging the project's reputation. Project financiers and lenders have established best practice guidelines such as the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), IFC Performance Standards, and other guidelines to ensure borrowers meet minimum expectations for financing or grants. We offer project planning, feasibility studies, and evaluations that comply with these requirements, helping to reduce costs associated with delays and credit suspension caused by inadequate implementation approaches.
